About The Event
In 1223, St. Francis of Assisi built the first nativity set, known as "presepe" in Italian. Ever since, Christians have been celebrating the birth of Jesus with scenes of the Nativity of the Lord in the home to facilitate prayer and devotion. Here in Rome, the presepe tradition is celebrated in a big way. Each year, the Vatican sponsors and displays one hundred nativity sets from cultures around the world around St. Peter's Square. Join the deacons and seminarians from the SJU spiritual life team to experience a truly global Christmas tradition!
